My friends and I had always wanted to go hiking back home. So when we found ourselves planning a bachelor party in Las Vegas for one of them, I suggested we go hiking "where the real hiking is." They instantly agreed.
From Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon was first, followed by Bryce and Zion National Parks. While the Grand Canyon is the seemingly unbelievable mammoth of the United States National Parks, Bryce and Zion are both so unique in their own right.
To me, I always describe Bryce National Park as looking like the surface of Mars. To this day, I've never seen anything like those hoodoos anywhere else in my travels. Bryce is a small National Park in my eyes, so hiking and exploring is fairly easy, with relatively easy walks available for the entire family.
And Zion National Park is truly a hiker's "paradise land." There are easier and more difficult hikes, with Angel's Landing often called the best hike in the entire world.
Bryce and Zion are easy drives from Las Vegas, only about 60-90 minutes from the city. And the Grand Canyon is about 5 hours from Las Vegas and a closer drive from Flagstaff or Phoenix. What a variety of environments and experiences one can (and should) partake of when in that part of the United States.
