Chicago is one of America's premier cities. It's clean, lively, energized, full of culture, and packed with sights. But how many times have people walked across one of the cities' many bridges over the Chicago River and thought—I wonder where this river comes from, and what else lies beyond where I can see here in downtown?
Taking a Chicago River Tour is a great way to see the city and its architecture. In fact, the Chicago architecture is really the star of the show on this river cruise. You'll see buildings with history, hear stories from your tour guide about all things architecture, and will even laugh a lot if you listen to your captain. (Side note: I feel like my friend and I were the only ones listening to the captain when I took this tour, or the only ones who spoke English, since only he and I found the jokes he told to be funny).
The Chicago River is one of the main reasons that Chicago became a major city, and why it exists to this day. No trip to Chicago should be complete without setting aside 2 hours or so to take a trip down the Chicago River.
