When you walk around a city like New York, whether you're a native or a tourist, you're probably always on the lookout for famous places. Some stand out above the others (pun possibly intended), like the Empire State Building or Chrysler Building, but some are much lower to the ground and may not be noticeable until you're right next to them.
One of those such places is something that many people would recognize, and I stumbled upon it one day not knowing where it existed or even if it was a real place in Manhattan. But it is, and it's a now-defunct firehouse in the TriBeCa neighborhood that was used as the headquarters of the Ghostbusters in that classic 1984 film. It's on an unassuming corner near the exit of the Holland Tunnel, and aside from the Ghostbusters logo painted on the sidewalk in front of the garage door, there's really no way to know that it's quite possibly one of the most famous landmarks from 1980s cinema and legendary comedy moviemaking.
And if anybody is wondering, before they were Ghostbusters, the gang worked at Columbia University in the movie, also in Manhattan.
