Many people have said, and rightfully so, that there is no better sunset than those in Africa. The colors in the sky as the sun goes down over the African continent are unlike those seen in the rest of the world. I'm not sure why, but it's true.
This sunset photo is different from any of the more typical ones I've taken. It's not just of the sunset on the horizon, highlighting the multitude of colors and hues filling the sky. It's the view of the sunset over Wilderness Safaris' Duma Tau camp in Botswana, specifically from the top of the stairs near the dining area, and shows the sunset through two water jugs.
The colors reflected in the water jugs was amazing to me, and so many people are surprised to learn that it was only water in the two jugs. How calming it felt to be there, with the smooth water of the river beyond the stairs and the floating fire pit dock, the flames in the lanterns, and the sounds of the African wildlife all around the camp. Duma Tau was my first safari camp experience, and one I will never forget.
