I'm not a coffee drinker. I just don't like the taste of it. But I understand the global phenomenon that coffee drinking is, and how almost everyone in the world craves and needs their early morning (and mid-day) fix of coffee.
But there was one time I did have that cup of coffee. In Seattle, I knew I had to visit the original Starbucks store to see the location that started it all.
It's actually a very unassuming storefront. It does not look like the thousands of locations around the world. It lacks the iconic logo. It lacks the familiar font on the Starbucks sign. In still retains the unique sign above the door and the original logo. In fact, the original Starbucks also sold spices, and they've kept that fact on their signage in the window.
Once inside, it's not a large space. It's very inviting, and seems just like your everyday local coffee shop. But we all know what started all because of this location.
So I ordered a cup of coffee. And I finished it. But not because I immediately decided to love coffee. I did it basically because it was the "touristy" thing to do, and a super-rare experience to partake of the legendary origins of so many people's coffee additions and rituals.
